Introduction
Stedman Computer Systems’ (SCS) hardware products come with either a
one-year limited warranty, a two-year limited warranty, or a three-year
limited warranty. In addition to the standard warranty, you may also
have on-site warranty coverage. The limited warranty covering your
system will be noted on your invoice and packing slip that accompanies
your system(s). By taking delivery of your system, you agree to the
following warranty terms.
One-Year, Two Year, and Three Year Limited Warranty
SCS manufactures its hardware products from parts and components that
are new or equivalent to new in accordance with industry-standard
practices. SCS warrants that the hardware products it manufactures will
be free from defects in materials and workmanship. The limited warranty
term is one, two, or three years beginning on the date of invoice, as
described below.
Damage due to
shipping the products to you is covered under this limited warranty.
Otherwise, this limited warranty does not cover damage due to external
causes, including accident, abuse, misuse, problems with electrical
power, servicing not authorized by SCS, usage not in accordance with
product instructions, failure to perform required preventive
maintenance, and problems caused by use of parts and components not
supplied by SCS.
This limited
warranty does not cover any items that are in one or more of the
following categories: software; external devices (except as specifically
noted); accessories or parts that are not installed in the SCS facility;
accessories or parts that are added after the invoice date of the
system. Monitors, keyboards, and mice that are purchased with the
system are covered under this limited warranty; all other monitors,
keyboards, and mice are not covered.
During the term of
your warranty, SCS will repair or replace products returned to SCS's
facility. To request limited warranty service, you must contact SCS and
request warranty service within the limited warranty period. You must
ship the products back to SCS in its original or equivalent packaging,
prepay shipping charges, and insure the shipment or accept the risk of
loss or damage during shipment. SCS will ship the repaired or
replacement products to you freight prepaid.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Before you ship the product(s) to SCS, back up the data on the hard-disk
drive(s) and any other storage device(s) in the product(s). Remove any
removable media, such as diskettes, CDs, or PC Cards. SCS does not
accept liability for lost data or software.
SCS owns all parts
removed from repaired products. SCS uses new and reconditioned parts and
SCS may provide replacement parts made by various manufacturers in
performing limited warranty repairs. The warranty term for a
replacement part is the remainder of the limited warranty term
applicable to the system in which it is installed.
You accept full
responsibility for your software and data. SCS is not required to advise
or remind you of appropriate backup and other procedures. In cases
where a reinstallation of the operating system software is required, the
system will not be returned exactly as it had been at the time of the
failure. It will be returned with only the original configuration it
had when shipped from the SCS facility on the date of purchase. The
customer is responsible to reload and reconfigure all the third party
software programs that were installed after the purchase date.
Software problems
are not covered under the warranty. In many cases, it is not
immediately evident that the problem is a software problem. If, during
a suspected warranty repair, it is discovered that the problem is
software related only, hourly labor charges will apply for the repair at
the SCS prevailing hourly labor rate.
SCS reserves the right
to refuse or delay warranty service if the requesting party has any
unpaid monies due SCS for any goods or services whether or not the
monies relate either directly or indirectly to the warranty service
needed, or whether or not said monies are in dispute.
Optional
On-Site Warranty Service
If your system is covered under the SCS
On-Site Warranty, it will be indicated on your original invoice and
packing slip. If the words “on-site service” are not included on your
original invoice and packing slip, you do not have on-site warranty
coverage.
When you contact
SCS with a technical support issue, we will ask you to participate in
some limited phone-based troubleshooting to identify the root cause of
the issue. This can help minimize overall system downtime by getting
the issue quickly fixed remotely and helps us prepare more appropriately for the on-site visit, if needed.
Please describe the
problem or error message you receive, as well as any steps you have
taken to solve the problem. If SCS cannot resolve the issue over the
phone in a short period of time, a technician will be dispatched to your
location.
SCS will dispatch a
technician to your location within one business day. In most cases, a
technician will respond the same day, if our schedule allows. Calls
received after 5:00PM will receive a response on the next business day;
Monday through Friday, excluding regularly observed holidays.
Many problems can
be fixed on-site during the initial visit, however, SCS may opt to bring
the system back to the SCS facility to perform additional diagnostic and
repair services. There is no additional charge for redelivery of the
system under these circumstances.
On-site service
only applies to the business location where the system was originally
installed.
General
THIS LIMITED WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC
LEGAL RIGHTS, AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS THAT VARY FROM STATE TO
STATE (OR JURISDICTION TO JURISDICTION). SCS'S RESPONSIBILITY FOR
MALFUNCTIONS AND DEFECTS IN HARDWARE IS LIMITED TO REPAIR AND
REPLACEMENT AS SET FORTH IN THIS LIMITED WARRANTY STATEMENT. ALL EXPRESS
AND IMPLIED WARRANTIES FOR THE PRODUCT, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY
IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF AND CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR
A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE LIMITED WARRANTY
PERIOD SET FORTH ABOVE AND NO WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,
WILL APPLY AFTER SUCH PERIOD. SOME STATES (OR JURISDICTIONS) DO NOT
ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THE ABOVE
LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
SCS DOES NOT
ACCEPT LIABILITY BEYOND THE REMEDIES SET FORTH IN THIS LIMITED WARRANTY
STATEMENT OR LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES,
INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY LIABILITY FOR PRODUCTS NOT BEING
AVAILABLE FOR USE OR FOR LOST DATA OR SOFTWARE. SOME STATES (OR
JURISDICTIONS) DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR
CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION MAY NOT
APPLY TO YOU. |
